Join Victoria Turner from the Treak Cliff Cavern for this rare opportunity to touch, examine and explore a variety of crystals, minerals and fossils. Victoria will bring examples of Blue John and Calcite mined directly from Treak Cliff Cavern, as well as other specimens from all over the world like Amethyst and Rose Quartz.
Blue John Stone is found nowhere in the world but amongst the rocks of Treak Cliff Hill, Castleton. Blue John Stone is now only mined in two caverns: Treak Cliff Cavern and Blue John Cavern. This mineral, a colour banded form of fluorspar, is so beautiful that it has been prized for many hundreds of years.
