Invisible Cities
Thursday 17 April, 5.30pm
For this first of two reading groups inspired by Chi-Tsung’s exhibition Dust. We will look at Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities (1972) to explore the imaginative potentialities of cities and how the human imagination is not necessarily limited by architecture or urban theories.

Flatland
Thursday 1 May, 5.30pm
The second reading group inspired by the exhibition reflects on E.A.Abbott’s Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions, a 1884 satirical novella set in a two-dimensional plane world. Part geometry lesson, part social satire, this humorous and classic work of science fiction enlarges readers’ imaginations and raises questions about the limits of our perception.
