Join Suzanne Treister and Mark Pilkington for a group tarot reading using the HEXEN 2.0 deck conceived and produced by Suzanne Treister.
The HEXEN 2.0 Tarot features 78 alchemical drawings depicting interconnected histories of the computer and the internet, cybernetics and the counterculture, science-fiction and scientific projections of the future, government and military research programmes, social engineering and ideas of the control society, alongside diverse philosophical, literary and political responses to advances in technology, including the claims of anarcho-primitivism, technogaianism, and transhumanism.
The HEXEN 2.0/Tarot allows a reader, or a group of readers working collaboratively, to use the cards as a tool to reconfigure history and/or map out hypothetical future narratives. The deck is part of a larger project by Suzanne Treister, HEXEN 2.0 (2009-11): http://www.suzannetreister.net/HEXEN2/HEXEN_2.html

Crystal Visions: a walk through the 60s through the lens of film and popular culture
A historical trip illustrating the backdrop to today’s ‘New Age’ and love of crystals; from Magic Trip, the true story of Ken Kesey and the Merry Band of Pranksters, to Jim Henson’s 80s animatronic The Dark Crystal.
Karen David’s multi-disciplinary practice examines notions of mysticism and subcultures through the use of mediums such as tie-dye, crystals, dreamcatchers and The X-Files, which she employs as aesthetic-shorthand for ‘New Age’ ideas.
Her research has taken her to the Southwest American Desert to explore its landscape and mythologies and to inform an ongoing project of a fictional artists’ commune where residents investigate links between Post-Painterly Abstraction, New Age memorabilia and new possibilities in gardening.
David is currently undertaking a PhD in Fine Art at University of Worcester with a studio focus on mythmaking, fictional narrative, communes and para-anthropology.
