A symposium to wrap up the City of Ideas series of conversations about urbanism and cultural space.
Wrapping up the series of conversations about urbanism and cultural space, Spaces For Creation brings together leading artists, architects, urbanists and public designers to discuss the relationship between public and creative space.
Over the past 18 months, Spaces For Creation has looked at issues ranging from legible cities and how public space is negotiated to urban greening and how cities can establish a sustainable creative culture for the future.
This symposium ties together these threads and asks: what’s next?
Speakers include:
- Heather Morison (Studio Morison)
- Tom James (artist/writer; The Clearing)
- Cecily Chua (Theatrum Mundi)
- Fiona Boundy (Milton Keynes Council / Festival of Creative Urban Living, MK Skate)
- + more TBA
Previous SFC talks have presented artists Morag Myerscough and Catalina Pollak Williamson, architect Andreia Garcia, leading academics such as Prof Iain Borden and Dr Dani Abulhawa, and cultural leaders Dr Tom Fleming and Claire Cumberlidge.
From 4.30pm the symposium is followed by Something Wild — a closing party in collaboration with Wild Combination featuring foraged, fermented and infused wines, cocktails, soft drinks and handmade hearty pies around an open fire. All welcome!
